The easiest thing you can do, is to get hold of the BASWIZ
library, and use the COM routines in there.  It makes
handling the com ports very easy for most applications, and
gives you supports for ports 1-4 instead of just 1 and 2.

BASWIZ does not lower DTR unless you TELL it to, and is
very easy to implement.

The file is FREQ'able from my system (if you have access to
a fido front end mailer) under the name of BASWIZ14.ZIP, at
the address on the origin line below.
